10 grand to play with, 5.0 swap possible?

If I can find a wrecked 5.0 that's loaded like my car, maybe rear ended or not in too terrible shape otherwise. Can swapping the drivetrain and associated computer/electronics be easily doable? Looking through salvage car auction sites got me thinking...

You might be better off trying to find a GHIG 2013/2014 GT (yes, I know they are rare), as I don't think $10,000 is going to get the job you are describing done.
Are you able to do every bit of the work yourself?

You get drivable Coyote cars in the teens now.

Pick your poison.

I hate the thought of getting rid of my car since it's already setup the way I want it looks and suspension wise. As for doing the swap myself, I'm not quite capable of doing it. Would have to have a shop do it or someone who's very good with these cars help me. I have all kinds of tools short of an engine and trans jack.

If not looking remotely feasible even with a donor car, I'll just settle for procharger.

Why not take the ten grand and put in a ProCharger with around 600hp?

If your car is yours and not the banks add the 10k to it and get the V8. Unless you can do the SC yourself it will be more $ and hassle than just getting a V8 and worth less $. I will say if you love modding go for it but as a heart over mind thing.

plz excuse typos..sxtng n drving

I like what I'm seeing on their IG. Some of them include the dash cluster and entire steering column ignition, gas tank too. My car having the navigation system, would that tie into the PATS system or factory vin number?

You need a shop to do it? Sell your car and buy a GT.

As someone that has done a similar swap on a 1987 Firebird, I converted a 4BBL to TPI if you are interested, it is a big job, even back then it was an entire swap, dash, fuel tank, and everything up front. Fortunately for me it still had the mechanical Odomoeter, so I kept my original miles.

Keep in mind that as soon as you install a V8 it is heavier than the 6, so your springs and ride height would be changed anyway.

The up side is you will learn so much about your car that by the end of your journey you will know more than 99.9% of us on the boards.

Dollars and cents wise just buying a GT will probably be less expensive.

Do what your heart desires, anything is possible with devotion, and I hope you have follow through.

I'd look into ^this. $10k will be too little for a 5.0 swap when it's all said and done. Plus, more chance for "little things" to cause issues you'll have to chase down, compared to outing on a supercharger etc.
