Dashboard rattle, any tricks to find it

I have a 2012 and there is this annoying rattle that seems to be around where the dashboard meets the A-pillar on the driver's side. I have removed the door card and looked inside the door, couldn't find anything. I removed the trim on the A-pillar, no luck there. Short of tearing the dash out is there any way of finding this rattle? It's not there all the time; it appears when you hit a certain vibration, usually when I am in 6th gear and putting some strain on the engine which causes the car to vibrate. I have pushed, pulled, pressed every part of the dash when it occurs but no luck finding it. Any suggestions?

Wooden matchsticks and wedges. Like jkeaton said you look at the most obvious places and shim them so they can't rattle. Other than listening with a stethoscope it is easier to eliminate any spots that might rattle.
