Late and early T5 interchangeability

Im new here and thought I'd ask you guys a question. Let me say this is prolly a general info question as my application is not even Ford, but the info i want is kinda hard to find.

Ive got a WC T5 from 89, it needs to be rebuilt. Not an issue , Ive rebuilt them before. But ive done a little research and found that the late model V6 mustangs 05 and up have a T5 in em, slightly different input shaft I know, but as far as going from an 89 to an 05 T5, obviously gear ratios are different....anyone one know what they are? And interchange, ill have to swap the input shaft from my 89 to a later trans is that an issue? is the bolt pattern for the bell housing the same? and the tailshaft, i read its got a bolt on yoke and a remote shifter. is the shifter in the same location though as the older T5?

My questions is really what are the gear ratios in the late T5 and can I mix and match from my 89 t5 to put the 05 in place. Reason for all this is i need a complete rebuild, including gears a counter shaft and everything. If i can get a used late model with low miles, its more cost effective for me...thoughts?? thanks in advance!

Mark

And if your curious, It's in a RWD Volvo, where T5 swaps are not unusual in the US.

Re: Late and early T5 interchangeability

Thanks, Ive seen many of those lists on T5 specs...but none seem to go up as late as Id like and my questions may be a little different. And i dont have a tag to decode either as i only have an older trans, before i buy a newer one i wanna make sure i can use it ya know?

I'm not sure about the 05 trans but I know the bellhousing pattern is the same up to 2004 the new input shafts are longer and you will have problems getting a soredometer to work

Re: Late and early T5 interchangeability

Ok, thats good about the bell housing patern. Do you know if its a 3.35 1st? cause if it is, i can prolly just swap my input shaft over to an 04 trans and the rest should be a snap....its the input shaft im worried about, but if its got the same 1st as the older ones, i dont think itll be an issue
