Whats the Best MPG you have gotten on a long trip

So I was driving to the beach last week and its about an 80 mile drive there from where I live, and I was getting 33 mpg and I was quite impressed and normally on the highway I will get 27 or 28 even tho the normal specs say that you are only supposed to get 26.

This was the case with our Yukon XL too. We were down at the outer banks and I think we filled up the Yukon like once when we were there for like 2 to 3 days which was amazing to us. The flat roads around the beaches tend to help quite a bit with the mileage

Has anyone had any P
problems from their mpg reading? Mine will go from 26 down to 10 in 10 minutes. As soon as I stop driving it's going down. Any suggestions?

Re: Whats the Best MPG you have gotten on a long trip

On the way back from Tupelo last year we calculated fuel mileage in my 88 GT and i got around 22 mpg. i was pleased considering the mods and such. on my trip to the beach this past weekend i got roughly 23 MPG which i still wish were better for a V6, but i'll take it.

To get the true mpg, don't trust the dummy gauge.

You have to hand calculate the mileage driven and the amount of gas it took to fill the tank. This will give you an accurate number of mpg.

If you just reset your mpg gauge then when ur stoped at a light the MPG's willl drop by a lot because you aren't going anywhere. But overtime, the data from driving will average out and it won't flux as much.

Gas station...Freeway...Gas station = a tad over 28 mpg, I'm light footed & maintain 75 mph in a 70 zone & 70 in a 65 zone. This is with an auto & cruise on.

I dint have enough stats on mine but the last 2 were 15 and 20. I don't expect too much from mine as I drive aggressive. I can't stand it if anyone in front of me is going faster than me.

Re: Whats the Best MPG you have gotten on a long trip

My old 98 GT the best was around 27-28 when all highway...haven't taken the 03 Roush for a long trip but I figure it'll be the same...lock it on cruise control 5 over the speed limit and just cruise.

I cover up the alternator with a shopping bag. Then I spray simple green all over the engine. I typically have the engine a little warm to create slight steam. Then I spray down the engine with the hose with like a rain setting on the nozzle. Of course I wipe down everything to get the rest of the dirt off. After that I use a foam tire care and spray on all the plastic parts. Just let that stuff dissipate and wipe off the chrome you have.
