Are turbochargers and superchargers only for GTs?

Nope. People use them on v6s too. Just less often.

is it worth spending that much instead of trading for a gt and paying the difference

I am asking because all I see on AmericanMuscle is kits for GTs.

I read that turbocharged are between 500 & 850 hp. How much does a standard GT have?

Re: power w/o supercharger

a few things

when you decide to install a supercharger/turbocharger the cost can be 4k-10k depending on setup. I would say on average all said and done if you are working to the limit (safe limit) of the stock engine you will probably be looking at 6-7k to get it done right.

Every engine is different in how much above stock performance levels they can take without blowing up. Most seem to be fine with 5-8psi IF the tune is right (and there is enough fuel/maf air readings to compensate else those have to be upgraded (fuel pump, injectors, maf etc). Tunes are not cheap but are a MUST

next you ruin the cars warranty, gone, wont cover it... just a part of it.

Also, the value of the car usually goes down due to a potential buyer may not want that mod, may not know if it was done right, and very much so does not know how the car was treated or if its on the verge of blowing up or if its fine.

The MORE you mod the MORE issues you have... its just how it goes~

you could probably sell your car, take the 7k, invest in a GT and come out ahead (maybe less hp/tq but a head in the value of the car game). Mods you dont get your money back on, maybe half if your are lucky.
