T5- or tr-3650 tranny?

hey guys.

i had a question.
so im going to do a conversion.

my car has 380 horses, would a T5 be good enough. i know the v6s have t-5s but most v6s have 220 horses.

the v8 has a Tr-3650 would that mate with the v6?
anyone know???

Tr 3650 is just the auto and t5 was also used in gt as well as cobra they make race prept t5 u can order as well as 3650. better question is, u want auto or stick? I like stick for fun factor but auto more consistant and practical.

---------- Post added at 06:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:30 PM ----------

I have auto and want viper spec t-56 which is a 6speed manual that u can get as well and is WAY stronger.

The 3650 a manual, it's stronger than a t-5.

Thanks guys so the question is will the stinger tranny mate with my engine.
I have a 4.0 v6, if I got it manual it would have a t 5 the gt manual has that tr 3... The one I wrote before lol

So would the tranny of the 4.6 mate with the 4.0 cause most 4.0 s make 220-300 horse max, mine makes 380. So thought I'd get the tranny rated for that much power.

Now Someone said I can still get a t-5 and have them make it stronger.?

I'm going from auto to stick

You would probably do well buying an hd or cobra spec t5.

Also known as 'world class', which like slowstang said will be fine for a v6, if you plan on a supercharger I'd go with a 3550 or 3660. If you plan on supercharging and racing I'd go with a G-Force. The world class T-5 is a great tranny right out the crate 

For clarification WC are rated for 300 lb ft whereas hd are rated for 330 lb ft.

Meaning that an extra 30 ft/lb capacity will not sway someone to stick with a T-5, in a car with a power adder. Points like price and ease of use make it a favorite with N/A street cars w/ HP numbers that fall in it's capacity range. I've had T-5's break under normal use, and I also broke 2nd in a 3550 Tremec in the same car(95 GT w/ bolt-on parts). Now if you are defiantly going T-5, I understand Tremec makes the newer ones? I would be inclined to steer away from the Borg Warner if I had a choice, but that's just my exp/opinion. I'm sure the guys here can post actual numbers and ratings of the different options, or atleast point you in the direction of those numbers. Sorry to muddle things up, hope you get the right tranny for what you want to do.

Re: T5- or tr-3650 tranny?

You have 380 HP and how much torque?
How hard are you going to be beating on it?

The Tremec TKO 500 should handle whatever you can throw at it.

I was planning on not doing the t5 anyway, it doesn't have what I need. I was looking to go with the tranny in a 4.6 s197 tranny. Thanks for the input

Sadly enough I don't remember but its a centrifical supercharger so relatively less torque.
How much would the Tko 500 run me?

Not 100% sure, but you should be able to bolt it up with the correct bellhousing.
One thing I have noticed is that they usually require that you change the clutch disk to a finer splined version.
Check the Tremec site for fitment.

You should go with a 6-speed, stick shift is the way to go!
