need some help muscle car guys!

I just installed my bbk cold air intake for my 2005 mustang v6 auto. When i test drove it, it didnt make that sucking sound it just sound like when it was in stock. I installed everything correctly except i took the positive battery line instead of the negative. Does it matter? No engine light or anything and no tune in my intake just plain CAI. Thanks any advice would help. Lets roll.....

Are you sure you installed everything right including the battery.

Yeah i did, i installed everything right except instead of taking the negative from the battery i mistakenly took out the positive. Does that matter though?

Re: need some help muscle car guys!

It sounds like you did everything just fine. What sound are you expecting to hear? because the whistling sound that some people get with cheap CAI is actually from restriction in the air flow (not good). Everything should be ok man.

They just recommend you take off the (-) terminal on the battery because it's the ground, but taking off the (+) still resets your computer (I believe...). If anything, just go back out to your car and unhook the (-) terminal for about 20 minutes to play safe....

Re: need some help muscle car guys!

Yeah i think thats a good idea bmabott, thanks for the advice i will do that. I was expecting for the sound to changed a little bit. Did you gain HP when you install yours? and the whistling sound do you have it in your car? or is that bad?

Re: need some help muscle car guys!

I made my own CAI so that there is minimal restriction.... but I did a whole slew of mods all at once, so I am not sure if the CAI did much on it's own... I'd guess it does not add much more than a few HP.

Your disconnecting of either the POS or NEG, does not matter, they will both cause the Computer to reset, no harm will be done. As far as sucking sound goes, you have a V6, so you are not going to hear alot. Just me glad that yours does not Require you to get a "TUNE".

Okay got it probably why cos i have a v6. Mine does not require to get a tune, but i am hoping someday ill get one. Do you think it will be fine even though i have a bbk cold air intake that does not require a tune or i should get another CAI that requires one?
Thanks

Your fine, with what you have. Don't spend unneccesary money. The difference between yours and one that requires a Tune, is soo small that it does not matter one bit at all. Check into Gears for your Rear End.
