V6mustang sound like v8

I currently have a single exhaust with a flowmaster exhaust. I want something loud and something that doesn't make my car sound like a rice rocket when really jumping off the line. Any suggestions? I am going to switch to a dual exhaust btw

It's almost impossible too have the rumble of a V8, but LT headers and a bad a** axle back set up will help a lot.

If yours is a 05-09 the pypes set up is great. Your never really going to be able to get that v8 sound without a v8. Lol I have full exhaust(CAI, JBA shortys and pypes) and it sounds great! Not ricey but sadly not as deep as a v8/: but just as loud or louder than some.

Every car has a unique noise. Cam set stuff like that so no sorry no v8 sound but you can add a great louder v6 sound. Go dual and xpipe and longtube for a bit deeper

Well my headers were off ebay for $109 and I put them in myself. Not hard at all btw. CAI can range from 100-300 depending on what you want. Pypes around $500 and it comes clamped so if you want it welded like I did its like 200-250 for install. Looking in between 700-1000

Haha I feel ya. I have pypes full exhaust with CAI, 93 race tune, JBA shorty headers and im still not quite deep enough to sound as a v8. But I am louder than most besides obviously modded ones

Re: V6mustang sound like v8

where do you get 93 octane gas and how much do you pay for it per gallon? i would set my car to a 93 octane tune but its not available in my city. and how big of a difference did your shorty headers make? any power and sound difference? i keep getting told only longtubes make a real difference

I am new to this forum, but listen to me when i say this. You cant go wrong with a MAC Axle Back Dual Exaust. I have had many compliments about the sound and looks of this exaust. Plus, with the Stainless steel, it doesnt rust! Check it out for yourself.

Honestly I don't even know the price... and im located in houston. Above all the headers were worth it to me. Tuned to the car it made it sound deeper and it picked up a little more speed around 50-65 if your flooring it. I love em and I recommend them to ya

Re: V6mustang sound like v8

nothing you will ever do will make it sound like an odd fire V8. Its an even fire 3.8L v6 and it will sound ok at idle but anything above about 2k rpms will start to sound worse and worse. Its a trade off... you want loud at idle and not loud higher int he rpms to make that bad sound~ cant really have both.

Re: V6mustang sound like v8

I HAVE A set of shorty's and Dynomax dual conversion and it has a very DEEP exhaust note , people have told me it sounds like a v8 ( i don't think so , because i know the difference ) but it doesn't sound ricey like some of the v6 's I've heard

Have you had a problem with the glass packs?? I had the dynomax dual conversion kit, but I needed to take the axle backs off because my glass packs shot out of my exhaust lol it looked like my car ate a cat. But I still the dynomax mid pipes and x pipe, with borlas. Sounds awesome!

My friend has borla straight pipes. But he has the entire cat back system, not just axel backs. And it's pretty damn close especially in the lower rpms. Unfortunately it isn cheap to true dual a v6...

Re: V6mustang sound like v8

I've got axel-back borla single exhaust on mine and I've been extrememly pleased. I did a lot of research before I got mine, seems there is almost zero hp difference between dual and single until you get to something like 400rwhp. The sound and looks on mine are great and I don't have that cheap cut-out bumper look. Got headers sitting in the garage to put on out of boredom. It'll be interesting to see what they do.
