Gas tank issues

Recently purchased a 2005 Mustang V6, when i fill up my gas tank, it takes FOREVER. It unclicks every 3 seconds, even if i pull the nozzel out a lil more and barley squeeze the handle it does the same thing. Any suggestions on how to fix this!?

Happens to me as well. I always assumed it was the pump nozzle. There are certain ones at certain stations that always do it, and some that never do..maybe not the best solution, but idk what to do about it.

Re: Gas tank issues

I googled it for a mustang, and one person said if you twisted the nozzel towards the left, which should be facing the front of your car it should work. Either way its annoying as hell when i gotta spend 15 minutes fillin up my car.

Usually that problem is due to a bad gas nozzle, but the shape of your tube that goes to the gas tank can impede flow and cause the nozzle to sense overflow and shut off. Not a problem I've heard of in mustangs, but if the car had been in an accident...

Re: Gas tank issues

I have the same issue. I'll have to try out the "left twist". Too bad it's not an easy fix.

The hose is actually smaller than regular cars you could either replace the hose or do the 4 o'clock position, it works about 90 percent of the time. This allows the gas to enter the tank in a circular fast motion, like a vortex

Knock on wood it hasn't happened to me yet this year. I have no idea what I'm doing differently. But it's horrible when does happen. I used to blame the gas station.
