Duel Exhaust

Does the Ford Racing true duels sound like a stock GT or a little louder?

My dad owns a body shop. One came it and had a bent tip on the exhaust. Insurance company replaced it. I bent it back, good as new and BAM! On my car. I get mostly everything 70% off I work at LKQ/keystone automotive(aftermarket,OEM recycled.)

Re: Duel Exhaust

The GT500 mufflers for the model years up to 2010 are not a special muffler. Look up the part number. It is the same muffler as the GT uses stock, with an automatic transmission. So it will give better sound than the stock 4.0 system, but if you are looking for mufflers don't overpay for the "Shelby" connection.

I see people asking - and getting - big dollars because a part came off a Shelby. You could sell your stock V6 side skirts as "exactly as the side skirt on the GT500" - and I've seen people spend the money because the side skirts came off the Shelby, not realizing it is just the V6 side skirt up to 2010 model year.

I didn't pay anything for it...it came off of a gt500 there for it is a gt500 exhaust. It may be the same as a gt but it didn't come off a GT. My car is a manual and so was the 500.don't kno if it is different or not. I'm sure that part is ridiculously expensive from ford.u can get a cheap gt exhaust at a junkyard and have someone make you a cat back system for less than you pay for a special brand.as I did

I understand that you didn't pay for the GT500 mufflers, and that they are from a GT500. That isn't what I was saying.

I don't want any members to over pay for the GT500 mufflers if they are looking to go to a dual exhaust. There isn't anything different about the muffler on the GT500 up through 2009 compared to the GT - it uses a lot of off the rack components for the Mustang (like the mufflers and the side skirts). In 2010 Ford changed to a GT500 specific muffler.

And also, I know that the GT500 is a manual. Ford has two muffler systems for the 2005-2009 GT - one for manual transmission and one for automatic. The GT500 uses the muffler that is for the GT with an automatic - there is slight difference in the mufflers, the manual is a little deeper in tone.

Haha ya when I got mine I just wanted a manual, shaker 500. But I ended up getting the pony package. It's been a good car. Im leaping for a 5.0 here in the next few months.
I got the 06 pony package because it had front and rear gt sway bars(06 was the only year ford did this)

Let me kno when you get your car.Id be more than happy to answer your questions about the details of the 4.0.

Re: Duel Exhaust

I think what Davey4.0 is saying is that in 2006, the first year for the Pony package, Ford actually put the GT sway bars on the car. After that most of the Pony package cars got smaller sway bars (some ended up with GT sized bars - seems to depend upon the build date) - that is based upon measurements made by several people to get a comparison.

The 2006 model year also had other things that were options in later years - the 2006 was more loaded for the base model.

Re: Duel Exhaust

i personally wouldnt put magnaflows on a v6, the sound isnt that good. everyone said that the pype bombs would be too raspy on a v6 but mine sound absolutely great. people that ride with me dont really like the drone but its not too bad, just something you would have to get used to

Re: Duel Exhaust

I had the Flowmaster American Thunder for awhile. It sounded GREAT outside the car. Inside - at highway speeds - the drone was so bad that I couldn't hear the radio.

One of the best sounding set ups really is the GT take off mufflers or the GTA or GTB. No drone, not super loud but a nice throaty sound. When you are looking don't get caught up as so many people do with the fact that a muffler is off the Shelby GT500 - up through the 2009 model year the GT500 simply used the stock GT mufflers for the GT with an automatic (there is a difference between the automatic and stick mufflers).

---------- Post added at 05:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:24 PM ----------

Here is the set up I am running now, stock manifolds and cats to the FRPP X pipe, stock over axle mid pipes to the GTB mufflers

And this is what I had up until a couple of months ago when I swapped to the GTB mufflers. The only difference is the GT500 take offs (which are the same as the GT for the automatic, and I paid less than I would have paid for the GT's because no one was bidding on them and it was complete from the cats back for $85)
