Turbos are alot more because of intercoolers and changing manifolds. Xchargers are usually everyones first thought/choice, none are cheap I'd say around 4k-5k.

Re: Supercharger/Turbo

Unless you find a good buy on a used kit you aren't going to find anything worth the money for $2000. It's possible to get a good deal on a used kit, but you have to make sure that you understand everything that is included.

There were some superchargers for sale over at Mustangcollective.com and one turbo.

As far as most reliable, the Xcharger seems to have the best record and not just because that is what I have. But the Xcharger is not the cheapest.

Cheap and reliable are mutually exclusive terms when talking about power adders.

Jim what kind of mustang do u have? Can u post a pic of your xcharger on your car? I'm curious to see what it looks like sitting in the engine bay, was it all worth the money? I've been contemplating for years to pull the trigger on one I might just do it sometime soon.

Re: Supercharger/Turbo

I have a 2006 Pony convertible. And the Xcharger was definitely worth the cost. The Xtreme intercooled system really added to the performance. Everyone says that they don't even have to look up at the track to know I'm making a pass because of the whine from the Xcharger at wide open throttle.

I custom painted mine to match my stripes when I upgraded it to the Xtreme so I found some of the original installation as the kit comes from explorerexpress.com

Re: Supercharger/Turbo

I got a really good deal on it - a friend was putting his 4.0 back to stock, but he didn't have the stock parts any more. So he needed the stock parts and we arranged a swap - I sent him the stock parts he needed, and he sent me the Xcharger. I had to pay for his shop to uninstall it, box it up, ship it, and for shipping my parts to them. So I got it for much less than would be normal - it was a 'right place at the right time' situation.

I did pay $1500 for the Xtreme kit to upgrade it though.

I had been planning to buy one anyway, and when the deal came up I couldn't pass it up. Pulled the nitrous off the car and sold that to pay for most of the swap cost. Either way there would be an Xcharger Xtreme on my car, but it was nice to get it for such a steal.

Re: Supercharger/Turbo

Right now about 295 RWHP and 310 torque. The tune is really rich though and when we did the baseline tune Lidio at Alternative Auto said that there is a lot left on the table. It was still pulling pretty hard at red line and was running a 10.0-10.3 on the AFR. I'm waiting on a tune update right now

Re: Supercharger/Turbo

Stock 4.6 GT's - the new 5.0 is pretty quick out of the showroom. And I can give a lightly modded GT a good run, sometimes it is a driver race situation.
