V6 TO GT Brake conversion

Any one done this yet ?
I'm in need of front brakes , and to be honest the V6 brakes SUCK !!!
Was thinking of buying the whole mess from NTO , Calipers, hoses, pads and rotors
the hubs are the same , but what i was wondering is if the spindels are the same and are the calipers going to bolt on to them ?

Re: V6 TO GT Brake conversion

Very easy to do, but you have to have at least the 17" wheels to clear the calipers. I see you list the Pony package so you are set with the wheel size.

All you have to do is take the bracket off the GT caliper, exchange it for the bracket on the V6 caliper. The calipers are exactly the same, only the bracket is different. Pull the old rotor and put the new GT bigger rotor on, put your new pads in, install everything back in place.

You don't open the system up so no need to bleed the brakes even.

ya,I'm good on the wheels too !!

so all I'm really gaining over the V6 is bigger rotors ?
I wonder if that's that big a difference ?

IMO I think the brakes on my car are great,it stops in a instant. The weight to stopping power I can feel at times. But I don't think there half bad compared to alot of cars ivr drove.

Re: V6 TO GT Brake conversion

It could be the pads. The bigger rotor does help though.

Compare it to a bike tire and wheel. Spin the wheel and stop it by pinching on the outer most edge. Now try the same thing, but pinch on the center. Takes a lot more power to stop the wheel. That is why they had such a hard time with the original mountain bike disc brakes - and they had to upgrade to hydraulic set ups to get enough grip on the small disk at the center rather than the usual outside edge of the rim.
