Heater Noise?

I have a 2006 V-6 Pony Package. Recently, when I turn the heater knob to the off position, it makes a rapid thumping noise for a few seconds. It does not do this when I use the air conditioner.

Anyone else have this happen or know what might be causing it?

The one thing I've always had going for me was people's low expectations. Nobody ever expects a whole hell of a lot from me.

It actually started in my car about a month ago, still haven't found a solution yet though.

Well since its not happening with the A/C I would start to look at things that operate when the heater is on and don't operate with the A/C. Just a thought

I have the opposite problem. When I turn on the A/C I hear thumping type sound, its like a flapper or something trying to open or close. I hear the noise coming from under the dash on the drivers side. But it only happens when I turn the knob to have it blowing thru the body vents. Its weird.

Mcmyyanks thats exactly what mine does. It has also started happening on both A/C and heater settings, also happens when i turn the setting from feet&dash to off, vice-versa, but doesnt happen when on feet only position. Starting to think the valve on the inside of the air ducts is clogged and trying to close/open.

That's exactly what it sounds like. Sounds like its not closing or opening all the way and when the fan starts blowing you hear the thumping

Ive never worked on the air duct or know really how to get to it or anything but im going to get in there and see whats what today. If i find anything useful ill post it, also Mr Solo Dolo have u had a problem where the max A/C button does not fuction while the valve/fan (Whatever is the true culprit) is making the thumping sound?

So all of a sudden today (The day i decide to work on it) the noise has stopped O_o however the weather has warmed up today. Has anyone noticed it not making the noise in warm weather or i occured only when its cold?

For my problem with using the AC and turning the vent knob to blow to body, it still makes that thumping sound. But mine will stop making noise within about 10-15 seconds. I just haven't crawled my lazy butt under the dash to see if I can see what's happening. Hope you fix it.

I don't think I get a thumping noise. But I notice the heater is rather noisy at times. In the winter I leave it 1 90% of the time.

And go figure. But it won't hurt to get in there and check things out.

I was going for that classic muscle car look. I need to get newer pics on here, he keeps getting updated!
Unfortunately on a high school budget where I pay EVERYTHING myself I can't afford a supercharger anytime soon... lol

Just wait college gets even harder to pay those things. I'm stuck trying to buy new wheels and tires.

Oh yeah the heater issue.. I'd take it apart when time permits I bet something has come loose.

Amen and I have to start paying gas during summer, and by the end of summer ill need new tires, plus parking at ASU is around $700 a year, and since Jet is about to hit 90k miles that means new belts and lots of other things :/

But fear not! I have come prepared! I absolutely REFUSE to be a broke college student and gain the freshman 15! NOO!

Usually a LOT! check the manual (or look it up online) I can't think of the stuff off the top of my head but I like to take care of any problems before they arise because mines a daily driver.

I wasn't broke until this year. I did pretty good, and my one job went away. And with it being only 2 months until my semester ended, and I decided on pinching penny's.
