Rear Axle Shaft

I bent my driver side rear axle shaft a lil bit. I need to buy a new one, but Ford wants me to pay $490 for just the shaft... I have a salvage yard that can give me the entire assembly for $500... So i need help finding a shaft or if another vehicles will fit it. I also would like to know if the GT shaft for the 8.8 would fit my 7.5 rear end.

Re: Rear Axle Shaft

I know pre 05 the 7.5 and 8.8 axles could be swapped (keep in mind you want ones with or without ABS based on what you would have) Not sure on 05+

Re: Rear Axle Shaft

No you cannot swap an axle shaft from the 8.8 and 7.5. The 8.8 uses a 31 spline axle and differential. The 7.5 uses a 28 spline.

They are not compatible.

Other Ford products use a different mount system from the Mustang 3-link style, so you have to use a rear end from a Mustang for a 2005+ Mustang.
