How can you tell if you have it?

If yours is an 05-09 I'm betting it has keyless entry. If your just missing your key fob you can get one pretty cheap on Amazon. And it's easy to find a programming guide online. I had a 95 mustang that didn't come with a keyfob but it had keyless entry, I just bought one off amazon, programmed it and I was good to go!

More or less. It's the PATS system, and it requires you to have a computer chip key to start the vehicle. Otherwise it will just sit there and crank over but never start. If someone were to break out your window, I don't believe it will sound off any alarm. Not sure on that though, I went ahead and upgraded my alarm system to the viper security system.

Is that just for the system alone or installed?

I hope you're best buy experience is better than mine those a holes couldn't even install my head unit correctly so I definitely wouldn't trust them with an alarm system but then again they are all different so hopefully you'll have professionals instead of some kid who likes wires installing your alarm :-\

I had best-buy install my viper system. It is the remote start and security feature. It ran me 750$ and my car has a standard transmission. Id find the viper system you want and go buy it off amazon cause you'll save about 250$ I didn't know that at the time. But best buy will still install it, their not the best, but they do warranty the work so you can keep getting it fixed. For some reason they didn't bypass the PATS system in my mustang and my alarm kept going off after about an hour but I took it back and haven't had any trouble since then

My buddy can install it for free. Just found out. The viper remote start runs for about 150-200 on Amazon. Most places I called were telling me 250+. I think ill go with the neighbors on this one.

Re: Keyless entry

Take a look at the overhead "console" with the map lights. Do you have two little sensors on either side of that part? They look like little speakers.

If you have the factory alarm system, those are the internal sensors and motion detectors.

A simple way to test is to put the window down, get out and lock the door with the electric button. Close the door and then after about 30 seconds reach inside. If you have the factory alarm it will sound as soon as you reach inside the open window.

Re: Keyless entry

Wait, are you buying that viper thing so you can have keyless entry? I bought my car used and they didn't have the fob. I went to the local ford dealer and had them make one and reprogram a spare key for me. It was a little over $100 so i'm not sure home much a fob would be.

Re: Keyless entry

If it is just the fob that is easy. You can get them for about $10 on ebay - and the programming instructions are in your owner manual.

I just reprogrammed three for my car because the alarm kept going off and I wanted to eliminate them as the cause.
