convertible broke

So I pulled in my driveway today and was putting the top back up on my car and I heard a small crack sound and thought nothing about it but then when I went to put it back down, the top would not move, any suggestions on what the problem is other than spending 500 bucks

It might be the motor. You still under warranty?

No its not but the motor runs but the top won't go down, I slowly put the top down by hand and it does go back up with the switch just not down

No its not, but I can still hear the motor running, the top won't go down but I did put it down slowly by hand and when I press the button to make it come back up, it works. Could it be I need some sort of fluid in there?

Sorry I'm not an expert I'm just guessing and maybe something might stick. Since you can hit the switch and make it go down something might be wrong with the switch. I know AM sells a one-touch switch but see if you can get a mechanic to look at it and then fix it yourself

It might be the hydronic cylinder. My 04 had that problem the bolt that holds it upright snapped and now you have to walk it down and button it up. Price was about $170 for it. You can do the replace your self.
