All CAIs will give mostly the same gains, there is just + or - a few with each one so it is mostly personal preference and price... So if you wan to spend an extra $100 for 3 more HP then it's all up to you.

If you're referring to the cheap *** BBK with it's tiny MAF and tube then yeah the JLT or even the C&L are much better choices

That depends on how much further he's going to go with the mods. If he decides to upgrade exhaust and fuel pump and a few other things then really tune it to push a lot more gas into the cylinder then he's going to want to be able to suck in the most air possible.

More air = More room for gas vapors = More HP

So he might want the one with the fattest intake he can find. In that case he may want to spend the extra 100 or so. One may only add a few HP over another, now, as the car is presumably stock. However, a few mods down the line the extra air available could turn from an extra 2 or 3 HP to an extra 15 or 20 HP.

C&L is what i have on my car. Its big, it looks good and it stays cool. After driving for a couple of hours its still cool enough to rest your hand on and its never gotten hot.

I have the JLT which is a pretty nice and hasn't given me any problems in the couple years I've had it.

Also in case you care about looks, if you get it directly from JLT you can have them paint the tube to match your car color or another color altogether.
