Emergency Brake

When I bought my stang, I had an issue with the emergency brake, the handle won't come up, it's only click once or maybe not even a click, and with this one click the light on the dash will come on but really there is no brake engaged.
Anyone had this issue before or have an idea what it could be the problem!
Thanks

I'm just taking a guess here but it sounds like the E brake cord is to tight

Does it come up all the way and only click once? Or is it really hard to pull and it barely comes up?

I also thought about that but I don't know how or where to start and look for the cord! Today I tried to remove the plastic part that covering the transmission and the e brake, it wasn't easy and I didn't have the time, I will try next time but I hope I will find something under that cover!

It's hard to pull it and clicks barely once.
Another question maybe will lead to something, does the e brake related to the rear brake system? coz my rear brakes and especially the calipers are rusted and needs to be replaced!

Google TSB: 218291 or mustang TSB 218291

It may be a good idea to go to Ford and let them fix it. Or a trust worthy mechanic.

Thanks man, I did google it and I got all the TSBs for the car, and I got the one for my e brake.
That was very helpful, appreciate it

Re: Emergency Brake

I have the same problem on my 05. I think its due to the lack of use from the previous owner. From what i have found is they like to rust shut if not used. Youll have to replace the whole cable. And i recomend doing it. Because my rotors in the back are really screwed up on mine.

Not only my rear rotors screwed up, even my calipers are rusted and don't work properly, when i first got it I had I noise in the rear breaks so I thought that's from the old pads, when I tried to replace the pads I realized that the calipers' bolts are stuck and preventing the calipers from moving properly, so even when I replaced the pads I still have this noise coming from the break!
