Cold Air Intake

Hey everyone,
I just decided I'm going to start doing some mods under the hood slowly but surely. I am interested In getting a cold air intake but I wasn't too sure which company intake will make for better performance...? Anybody have any preference on brands or have any personal experience with this research? Anything will help me.. I just want the most performance possible for a reasonable price

Thanks

Re: Cold Air Intake

you wont see a big difference on a CAI unless you get a tuner with it

I got a CAI that didn't require a tune & I seen no difference. If you plan on getting a tuner eventually & occasionally look under the hood they are nice to have and look at

Obviously I want to feel/see a difference. If I'm not gonna see it in one that doesn't require a tune, I'm wasting my money and I'll spend some money on something to make it worth it. Silvrskoundrel- I just took a look at your pics. Nice car! Front end looks sick! I need to get a grille and such to make mine look badass.

Thanks! I got a few cosmetic things left to do with my car.. De-badging her, taking off stripe, tinting front windows (dunno why I didn't in the first place), new grille with GT fogs, etc. I laugh bc my bf and I recently broke up but I use to help put money into his race cars - now I can finally put my money into my own car

This is my tuner

http://www.americanmuscle.com/x3-cus...er-0510v6.html

I paid 220 for my K&N CAI new on eBay as opposed to AMs 260.

Yes on the tunes. Depending on what you wanna do, there's 3 grades of gas. 87, 89, & 91 or 93. You pick which fuel you wanna run on each tune if you get the custom tuned one. 87 runs economy mode to get good mileage, 89 is track or something like that, gets ya a little more performance. & 91 or 93 octane you use with the race tune. Biggest difference on performance gains & response

Doesn't bother me. They make better ones that you can change the tune driving down the road. But they're EXPENSIVE! And for now I'm perfectly fine with it. It's not a big deal to me. One day I plan to do a coyote swap & a 6 spd

Wow. That would have looked badass. I originally wanted nothing other than a white mustang so I could rock out with the pink and such but for one I got my car at such a great price I couldn't turn it down. And for two, I now realize how great it is when ppl pull up expecting to see a tough guy in the driver seat
