Question Brake upgrade

I was surfing local kijiji and saw this ad selling 2005 gt front take-offs for $100:

"Take offs may only have been on the car for 10 klms. rotors , pads, calipers, flex lines, and brackets. rotor alone is worth over a hundred bucks"

Pictures look alright. Is this all I would need to upgrade? Is it worth it? Stock rims on my 2005 v6 were 16", I bought a set of 17" summer rims and tires last year. Are my winter tires and rims a problem?

Thanks!

You have to use the 17" wheel at a minimum. The 16" won't clear the caliper and larger rotor.

All you need to do is swap the rotors and the bracket on the caliper. The caliper itself is the same size, just the bracket is different to move it out to clear the rotor.

And the rear is exactly the same so don't bother getting the GT rear set up.

Perfect! I'm still undecided because I'll end up having to get new rims and rubber for winter (16's). Thanks for the info!

Maybe your post isn't clear. You won't be able to use a 16" wheel with the GT front brakes on the car. You have to use the 17" wheels. So if you put winter tires on your 16" wheels they can only go on the back; front won't fit that wheel.

Yeah I have the GT upgrade kit on mine the rotors are larger and take the 17inch to clear. 18 would be best to give you the most room

I like the kit and notice an increase in stopping power.

I have 20 9.5 wheels, I've always wanted to know if I could upgrade to GT brakes. Do you know if they"ll fit mine as well?

I'm new to the game in some regards but to my eye at least that looks like an almost impossibly good deal.

Where is it so I can snipe you? LOL

Yeah the rotors right? She's talking like only $20-30 for the calipers to. Which seems a little cheap to me

That's within reason, but I'd still be concerned about the quality.

SSCofSV Mentioned hers was $39 more than yours with calipers which seems a little cheap to me
