Alternator Issues

So my alternator is making a strange clunking noise and I'm getting a notification on my information screen to check my charging system! Anybody else had alternator problems with an 08 auto?

Maybe a new alt would be appropriate? Mine started sounding like a supercharger upon a dwindling bearing so I replaced it with a RockAuto one. Also our stangs have that electrical issue but I believe it's only for earlier models.

you deff. have internal alt. problems could be broken brushes, bad comutator ring bad bearings whatever-- take it off and take it to auto parts store have them put it on tester but I'll bet you need a new one for sure

Had mine last weekend also but took a limo with friends instead. If I would do it again I would rent an Aston Martin for the night instead. Was still fun as hell though.

Alternator problem for sure. They have after market alternators for performance out there. Try one of those. Beats a stock any day. And the ware and tare you'll get out of it will last the hard drives.

Turn the car on and take on and disconnect the positive end from the battery, if it turns off u need a new one

The alternator on the S197's are notorious for going out between 50-80k miles.. I had to replace mine at 53k.. Most places will test them for free, just have it tested and that should tell you whether it's the alternator or not.
