A matter of tuning? Throttle lag? How high do u want it to go? I had an auto ford focus that would get stuck at 4k for about 2 secs even after I lift off the gas. Brought it in, they tuned it up and all was kosher.

Oh I know an easy fix. Trade it in for a manual. Then you can rev it to redline

It's an automatic trams. It may be governed to go no higher than 4k. A tune may be the answer

Are you guys talking about a constant 5k or just when putting your foot down all the way?

If going 5k is bad for the car, then I'm not sure what to say. Every time I decide to speed past a little and thus put my foot down, my auto 07 goes all the way to 6-6.5k before shifting.

You say you got it used? Maybe a previous owner tuned the shift points lower to save gas or adjusted the limiter, but I don't know why someone would buy a Stang and do that. If that's the case, then another tune will adjust the shift points and the limiter to where you want them.
