Airaid or K&N

I'm not quite sure which intake system to purchase. Any opinion to get ? 06 V6 mustang. Please help in which is the best to get for performance. I'm purchasing them from American muscle.

Any CAI that doesn't require a tune is a waste of money. You might as well just get a K & N drop in filter. If you want a CAI then you need one that creates enough airflow to make a difference, which also means it'll throw the check engine light because it exceeds the parameters as Ford designed them. That's where the tune comes in to 1) kill the light, and 2) change the computer parameters to take advantage of your new mod. With that in mind, both Airaid and K & N make quality kits with reusable filters and the cleaner is universal. Either one is good and the performance gains are pretty much a match.

Thanks for your input! And yes I agree you do need a tune to get the full advantage of the power but for know ill just get the CAI and eventually will get the tune. I have other bolt on so I was in the market for a tune.

Both intakes are only a 20 dollar difference. I'm just tying to figure out which to go with for a performance gain w/o tune. Eventually ill buy the tuner

Airaid has a more advanced filtration system to me it's worth it!

I personally like the K&N. I have one on my 06 v6. Combined with a nice tune from sct/bama and you'll notice a huge difference.

I even bought a bigger filter recently and it continued to amaze me. Good luck on your choice!

Cool man, hope the tune works good for ya. The throttle body spacer is a fun, good looking add on by the way! But yeah, having all of your aftermarket mods calibrated with each other makes a hell of a difference. I raced a 99-04 gt last night with my 4.0 and took it off the line and the rest of the way. Good feeling lol.

I also ordered a new ignition coil from accel and it comes in tomorrow...looking forward to installing it in hopes of a ignition and acceleration gain.

I myself have the K&N typhoon kit on my 09 v6 with a sct/bama tune and enjoy the increase in power you get! I have also raced a few 99-04 gt's and take them by at least a car so I recommend K&N!!

I know it's not mentioned but the JLT CAI provided the most gains on AM. Others on here have said the same. Just a suggestion! But between the two I'd go airaid

Hmm I was told the same thing about the JLT. Why the preference for the airaid?

As mentioned before, airaid has a more advanced filtration system, but I deem k&n more reliable. My dad had a k&n on his 01 Viper and never had any problems

I wouldn't say reliable because k&n has had plenty of issues while airaid hasn't had any...granted k&n has been around longer

Yeah thanks man! I was also looking into the coil pack! But like I said I'm saving up for the tune then ill but myself the coil pack and spacer and also better axle backs. The previous owner added 2.5 flow master 😕😕

Just speaking from experience! Then again I've never had airaid hahah so I might be a lil biased. Still think JLT is the way to go. Even those few extra ponies make a difference compared to other CAI's
