Halp! Halp!

Hi guys, sorry to be away so long.

Life, and all. Five weeks til baby, then dadding it up for life.

Anyway, here's my problem.

It started a few weeks ago with an occasional and very intermittent battery warning. For no reason at all, it would appear, linger for a while and then disappear with no indication of trouble. Then, very occasionally, I'd see the lights dim or the engine idle go up slightly when additional systems were turned on (such as A/C, defrost, etc).

Then, about a week, week and a half ago, it started to occasionally click. It's not the lifters or anything as obvious as that and there seems to be no consistent reason for the tick, but I'm worried it's associated with my fan clicking on, or the alternator but it WON'T do it standing still, so I can't keep my head under the hood to source the noise which again, is just an occasional tick, as if my fan or alternator. And then yesterday, my engine temp gauge went strange... it didn't break, it's still reacting to engine temp, it's just reading really, really low even after it should be well and warmed up but here's the thing - the engine seems to be running along just fine and there's no indication of overheating; no power loss, no heat-stink, nothing.

I haven't had the time to start troubleshooting as my wife is really, very pregnant, but here's what I'm thinking:

Electrical: fuses, hopefully?

Thermostat Housing: Common problem, but I don't know the lead up symptoms.

Fan or Alternator: Clicking "on"?

Cracked block: GOD WHY? WHY GOD?! WHY!?!

Oh, and bee tee dubs it's a 2006 4.0L manual with 70,000 KILOMETERS on the clock.

Please, Evo... HALP ME!

(also note, the car is running fine aside from that tick-on sound but there's nothing that feels mechanically wrong)

Check your alternator for total power output, might be the regulator starting to go bad, seen this a lot. strange things start to happen , as for your thermostat, it might be stuck open and you would get a low temp reading.

Oh thank god.

Alternator I can handle and not too expensive. Same for the Thermostat Housing.

I'm just glad no one has said "Water pump" yet.

I'll run an alternator test ASAP.

While we're here, I have another question:

When I go full lock, left or right, there's a slight groan from the power steering, but only on full lock and even half an inch off of full lock it's no problem. Could this mean I need to do my power steering fluid?

It's not my alternator.

It's my Compressor. It's clicking when it engages.

How ****ed am I?

Probably not that much, compressors do that when they are low on pressure so u likely have a coolant leak. Just take it to a place that specializes in a/c.
It still sounds like ur alt might have a problem though, with the battery light on and all. It could po
