Engine whine when WOT?

I don't like to floor my 05 v6 due to this noise, it doesn't sound normal. I only hear it when i'm really on the gas. It sounds like a really weird supercharger. In other cars, such as my 2000 impala, when you floor it, you hear pure motor, just sounds strong.

I always feel like if I keep this noise up too long I'm gonna blow a hose(did it before) or something. Anyone else have this problem and know what it might be?

Tb spacer? A Prius exhaust system??
On a more serious note, where does it sound like it's coming from. Park the car and rev it at wide-open throttle. Hold it like 4000 RPMs for 15 seconds. Find out where the sounds coming from. That's where you'll be able to figure out your answer. Gonna need more information to diagnose what the real problem is

My engine whines at high speed at WOT but I also have a tb spacer and a cai so most likely it's just the intake sound. I love the sound it makes!! Do you have either of those?

My 07 also makes the noise you're describing.
I always thought it was the air box or a belt whine
I won't lie though I liked it lol

This is the best I could do as for a video:
View My Video

If i'm not running F/I i'd much rather just hear the strong growl of the motor itself, lol.

Any ideas?

We actually have another 07 v6 vert that sounds like it'd be a completely different motor...it sounds great and it doesn't have this whine.

Lol, verts weigh more because they have to add extra support to the body of the car because of the lack of a roof.

Verts usually weigh more.

My GT made this noise after I put the CAI on. Loved the sound. Yet another excuse to have her at WOT.

How bad do you want to know what's wrong? If it were me, I'd take that mother****er to the interstate and have someone follow, floor it until something pops.. Or open the hood and have somebody floor it in neutral and when the sound starts up find where it's coming from. Don't know what else to tell you, can't fix something that you can't find

Check all belts and pulleys listen closely to your alternator and look for any unusual movement of the fan.that sound is being caused my movement. Check your alternator pulley, definetly floor it while in neutral and see if it occurs then. Could be your wife in the passenger seat as well. Another way: "but highly unrecommended if you wouldn't know what to do if jiffy lube closed down country wide" seafoam your vacuum lines and see if you have an unnatural leak that's causing the whistling/whining noise as more movement is pulsing through it. **** it could be a lose air box. Gotta listen where it's coming from if you want any real advice on how to fix it bud.

I seafoamed it a few months ago. I didn't bother to watch under the hood, though. My air box IS loose, not bolted down correctly, but I never thought that could be the source of the noise. I will be sure it's bolted down tightly tomorrow and give it another go. After that, I'll just have to have my girlfriend rev it while I listen. I did have a CEL for possible low voltage from alternator but It went away shortly after and I haven't experienced anything wrong.
