Gauges

It a friend and his gauges messed up and now every time he starts it the rpms go straight to 7 grand and stay there.. What's wrong with them and how can we fix it?

If you have the 2005 mustang, the small engines are faulty and you can change them for quite cheap eith improved ones off ebay. If it's 2006 and up, they should not do that, but you can do the same fix
