Mustang Gt or v6?

In the next 6 to 8 months Im looking to buy another muatang. My only question is which should I buy a 2007, 2008 Gt or a 2011 v6. I really like both and I don't know which one to pick. What do you guys think also which one would be more reliable? It would be a manual to! Thanks guys!

I was facing a similar decision this past summer. I ended up with a '13 V6 Premium. Having owned a 4.6 GT in the past, I don't regret my choice at all.

The 2011 3.7 V6 advantage

Newer car
305 horsepower
lower insurance
better gas mileage
Looks great

Older GT advantage
Sounds great
Other then that I don't see any advantage because with the right mufflers the 2011 will sound good. ( Never as good as the 4.6 but still pretty darn good)

Ronnie

Besides the sound, which is personal preference, there is no reason not to go with an 11+ V6.

No disrespect to the v8s, but sound and torque is the only thing lacking.

Like Ronnie said, to get the v8 instead, you are opting for older (usually less reliable), and higher insurance.

I've never been able to give up the sound of the V8, that's when i was first looking at mustangs it was between an 05-09 v6 or 99-04GT. I ended up getting an 01.

Same here man. Me and my bro went car shoppin at the same time, I got an 02gt and he got an 08v6. To this day I am glad I got the gt, I have to have v8 sound. Ill deal with slightly worse mpg anyday. OP gt is my vote

I would get a manual 08 GT if the funds where available to me. But I would think the newer the car the more dependable it would be

2009 Ford Mustang vs. 2011 Ford Mustang

If you decided to modify it, and could bring the torque up to the 320 of the v8, you'd have about 396 hp at the top end. 40 ft lbs is quite a bit, though. You're also 80 some pounds lighter, 26% better FE in the city and highway.

You mentioned a lot of things in what you are looking for, clarifying your priorities may help you decide between the two.

The gt will cost half the price of a 6banger, and insurance will reflect that.

I bought a 2011 v6 over the 2011 5.0. I drove both a lot and raced both. Honestly I think the v6 handles better and rides better. Especially if it's a v6 performance package. Better mpg, wayyyy!! Lower insurance. And against the 4.6 v8 it's no question. My car destroys the 4.6 v8 in a race.

My insurance went down when I traded my '11 3.7 for my '12 Boss go figure lmao. But I'd go with a manual 08 GT

It really went down on the move to the boss? And what reasons would you pick a 2008 gt?

Yes it really went down but I have a special insurance guy lol. He's the bomb. And I had recently turned 26 and taken a defensive driving class. So all that helped lower it.

I would pick the gt simply off personal preference. If you don't drive a lot of miles get the v8. There are more mods available and just all around funner car. I loved my '11 3.7 and it would outrun most pre-2011 GTs but it was still a v6 and you'll never get the sound or prestige of a v8.

Since when have NA Mach 1s been fast? I thought stock they ran mid-high 13's at around 102. Isn't that about the same et and trap that a 3.31 geared v6 runs?

From Motortrend - "Our five-speed-equipped Mach 1 shot to 60 mph in 5.3 sec and cleared the quarter mile in 13.8 sec at 102.5 mph. That's all over the 5.2 to 60 and 13.5 at 107.3 posted by the last Camaro SS we tested."

From - 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1 - Road Test Review - Motor Trend

Motortrend on 2011 Mustang V6 - "Chew on this: 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.7 at 102.0 mph."

From - 2011 Ford Mustang V-6 First Test - Motor Trend

So ... stock for stock according to this, a 3.7 V6 can best a Mach 1 to 60, 100 and through the 1/4. All while getting better mpg and with a taller rear axle ratio, 3.31 on v6 to 3.55 on Mach1.

Nobody ... Hence why I said "stock for stock".

I was just making the point that simply because it's a 4v 4.6 doesn't make it fast.

Mach 1s are rated for the 5 speed 4.6 0to60 at 13.00 1/4 and I was saying that I had a 4v not a 2v

So you are claiming a stock Mach 1 is faster than a stock LS1 Fbody?
