ive heard your not supposed to wax over them. the only way id know of for protection would be to have a clear wrap put over them.

Don't wax for a couple weeks is all. Use a spray wax after washing, but before shammying, then wipe dry. Leaves a great protection on everything.

So spray wax the stripes themselves or the whole car?

After a couple weeks, the whole car. U can use reg wax too, but no compound...too abrasive.

There's really nothing you can do that would be worth "protecting" the stripes. Vinyl isn't meant to be permanent, for that I'd recommend going the route of painting them.

2 years? Then don't worry about them. If they are good vinyl they would last you at least 5 years.

Ur correct, but UV will hasten the aging of even 3m vinyl. Using a coating of UV protectant, ie wax, will make it last years longer than advertised duration. Personal experience with stripes, and boat decals in Florida.

It technically would make it "look" like it is lasting longer... but what I don't know is if the glue will be affected at all because the glue in the end is what decides if it will be a pain to remove. since the longer it stays the worse the glue gets.

U use Maguieres and have great luck. They have a 3 step process that works awesome. There are better, more expensive, waxes out there, but I can't tell the diff once waxed between them. They have a great yellow wet wax that is easy and quick. Quick detail spray I think its called.
