Throwin together an 8.8

so im thinking about putting together an 8.8" rearend. i can get the diff from an earlier gt for like $100 or so. buy some new axels and 4.10s while it's on sale. get the kit with all the new internals for 100. and the cobra flange and ill have a basically brand new 8.8 for a little over $500. what do you all think? worth it? risks involved? flaws in my madness?

Are you planning to buy the axle tube and mount them in place, then grinding off the old mounting points and welding in the center link, and welding in the LCA mounts and then .........building a jig to keep everything straight...... switching everything from 4 link to 3 link......

Hopefully you get the idea that building a rear end takes a lot more than you think. You already have the cost in parts of what it would cost you to buy a proper rear end.

... i did not think of any of that.that would be the "flaws in my madness" part i was talking about. i just kinda assumed it came in a nice package. have it put together and installed. obviously i was very very wrong. thanks. saved me on that one.

would my best bet be to find one from a wrecked 05-09 gt? would it bolt right up once i got a cobra flange?

Make sure it didn't have rear end damage, make sure it was front end so the axle isn't screwed up
