Vortech Blower

How safe is it to use the Vortech V-3 supercharger system on a 4.0 with stock internals?

I ran the Xcharger Xtreme on my 2006. I installed it at 90,000 miles (after two seasons of drag racing it with a 75 shot of nitrous). Sold it in June 2012 when I ordered my 2013 and it had 203,000 miles on it, still running mid 12's. Ran about 12lbs of boost on the Xcharger.

Stock internals, nothing was done to the engine. If you have a good tune, maintenance kept up to date, you will have no problems.

And the buyer from June 2012 just put it up for sale again. Car now has 211,000 on it, still will run in the 12's.

What kind of numbers did you have with the xtreme? And how was it for daily driving?

It was just under 300RWHP and almost that much torque (something like 295 and 290 - can't remember for sure and can't find the saved dyno sheets).

It was great for daily driving - even though a lot of those 203,000 were made a 1/4 mile at a time. I used it on my daily 90 mile round trip commute year round. Drove through sun, fog, rain, sleet, and snow many times with no problems. On the highway it was great having the low rpm torque of the Xcharger when I had to move from a dead stop in the left lane and into the moving center and right lanes - and the scream of the Xcharger can't be beat.

I found an early dyno sheet on the Xcharger Xtreme and it shows 292 RWHP and 313 torque.

On my 2013 3.7L V6 I have some baseline dyno number showing 259 RWHP and 253 torque. Which is about right since the 2006 with Xcharger was running 12's and the 2013 is still in 13's so far, although I also am running the 2.73 rear end so a better gear should pick up some.

So would the can tune that Vortech sends be safe? Cause I'd add an intercooler as well, would it need a retune for that?
