07 auto shifter brushed aluminum metal coating starting to buble

The thin aluminum layer on my stock auto shifter is starting to bubble and bug me. My hand catches on it sometimes. Has anyone else had this problem? If so how do you fix it? I will probably end up gluing it back down, but wanted to see what other people had done.
