2005-2008 v6 mustang good first car?

I'm 14 turning 15 in august and want to get a mustang i have around $4,000 but my dad matches that and gives me $2,000 so ill have $10,000 so i know i can get one i have seen a lot on Craigslist.

But i want to know if its a good first car (I'm a guy) i want one with decent mpg in city 18-20 mpg is good and i will be under my parents insurance so it should be cheaper.

I think it's a decent first car. It isn't all that powerful, so you aren't likely to wrap it around anything. It is pretty safe and the 4.0 is reliable. You're only going to see 16mpg city at best, though. And insurance will go up no matter what. It's a 2-door rear-wheel drive sports car so your insurance company is gonna try to get what they can. These cars tend to be more challenging to drive in the snow and over ice because of it being RWD. Still, it's a lower power RWD car, so it isn't a huge issue.

My mustang was my first car and I was in the same position as you. City driving I get around 21mpg and high 20's on highway. As for insurance expect to pay around $180 a month. Overall it's a great first car and I would definitely recommend a 5 speed

V6 is rated for 16mpg. How on earth are you getting 21? That's better than my 2014!

If I concentrate on FE (rarely) around the city I can get 20 out of my 2013 GT. Usually see anywhere from 14-18.

It's an awesome first car, I normally see 17.2mpg in the city and 20.0mpg on the interstate. The car is fast enough for what a first car should be, you can have fun in it. It's also a fun one to mod and is overall a great car, as a previous member said get a five speed!

i just put 3.73s in mine and im gettin ~21mpg city if im driving like a normal person.

mine is my second car but its definitely a reliable and fairly safe one. its easy to handle if you want it to be. it can be crazy if you want it to be. id say go for it. but do get a 5 speed or youll regret it.

Yes. I averaged 19 mpg city with a tune, CAI, and true dual exhaust. It was ab 18 city before mods.

Last year I was fortunate enough to get a good job and upgraded from a 95 nissan to an 07 v6! I wouldn't suggest a gt for a first car as I am 19 and my tickets are stacking up.

Dang! The 4.0- liter V6 has just enough power to keep me from getting a ticket. I agree start with this drive safely and you'll get good insurance rates later on, so when get the GT you're gonna do alright.

I live in farmland with a lot of country roads that cops never go on. I am just the lucky one in a thousand case where cops go in odd places! My fault though

2005-2008 v6 mustang good first car?

I just got my 1st Stang: 2006 v6 coupe, for $10k from our local auto auction;
i'd stay away from the car lots (too expensive) & recommend either buying privately; local auctions; police/sheriff seizures; or insurance companies may have auctions of slightly damaged ones.

Good luck!! (& keep us updated!!)

ps: tough to drive in deep snow/ very wet roads!

But OP, I think any mustang in the 2000s is a good car! A 2006 or above would be nice to have for high school! Just remember, the car isnt what pulls the ladies *sigh* I had the nicest stang in the lot..and zero girls

Still confused on why boobs and one direction are on this thread... Lol but yes the 4.0 is a great first car. Gas mileage kinda sucks but I might just drive mine too hard. Got mine a year and a half ago my junior year
