faded bumper fix

well fellas here is what i did to fix the faded rear bumper on my torch red mustang. it seems that every one that i have seen has the same problem. factory paint defect?

well basically I cleaned it really good with degreaser. removed the bumper and cleaned it again. scuffed it pretty good with a red scothbrite pad. then smoothed it with 800 grit. used the previous color as the base coat. then sprayed about 5 coats of red (cardinal red was the closest i could find) and about 3 coats of clear. smoothed it all out with 1000-2500 sandpaper, compounded and polished.

this is the end results.

What clear coat did you use? And did you use a spray can paint or use your own paint gun?

If you use a gun, ask your local body shop if they can order some for you. When I worked for my brother's body shop, his paint supplier got so much business from him he gave deep discounts. They can probably get you the lowest price, just grab your paint code.
