Accident need any help/advice I can get.

Hello everyone,

Today I have to put up a post I have never wanted to even imagine I would have to. Today there was a ton of rain and two cars in front of me on a curved on ramp and the first car thought he was going too fast and slammed on the brakes, the GLK 550 behind him was following too close and slammed on his brakes. I was behind the GLK, a good distance too, and slowed down to around 10mph when in my rear view I saw a Mazda RX-8 coming in fast from the lane you have to yield to. He slammed on his brakes, but was going too fast and was going to hit me. I panicked and threw mine in first and hit the gas to move off to the emergency lane on the on ramp. I hit the gas too hard and lost traction, spun and hit the front and back end of my car on the guardrail. Being a total ******* the Mazda decided to speed off after seeing the event unfold. At the end of the day I just want to get my baby fixed and put the event behind me. I will obviously need a new front and rear bumper, a new front quarter panel, a new headlight (all of the plastic hinges broke on it), and paint. I'm really worried about the metal that bended where the rear bumper attaches. I wanted to know how much you all think this will cost to fix. I'm not going to claim it though. I have attached all of the immediate pics I have. Thank you in advance!

Note: not sure why this didn't load with pics

You didn't mention any injuries so I'm glad you're OK. Car doesn't look too bad I can't Imagine more that 3000-3500 in damage. Can't believe the guy in the RX-8 didn't even stop to see if you were OK. I don't think you could have gotten anything from him except maybe an apology though, Insurance companies don't pay based on accidents that almost happened with their policyholders. You anticipated a wreck, moved and then wrecked yourself.

Ya, I'm fine, just hurt my pride, wallet, and baby. That's around the figure I was expecting. I hope it's nothing more. The most concerning thing to me is that thick metal part that holds on to the rear bumper Your right about the RX-8, as things all went down, I couldn't have gotten anything out of him. It would have been nice for him to make sure I was okay and the car wasn't too bad. My mistake was the amount of gas I added to get away from the rear end collision.

I recommend getting a GT rear bumper instead of replacing the old one! Maybe even a CS front bumper costly though. I'm sorry for your loss my friend! I've been thereClick image for larger version

In a one lane canyon where my brakes glazed over. It's never fun. But it gives you a chance to kind of mold the car to your liking which could be worth the extra penny or so. Good luck with whatever happens!

With the rainy season upon us, these types of accidents become the norm unfortunately. Glad no one was hurt.

As much as I liked the pirellis that came with my Mustang new, they provided little wet weather traction; mayby thats what the "zero" refered to on the sidewall.

I had one slide happen on the way to work one rainy morning. Went to merge onto the highway, gave the Mustang some gas, and the car slid left, then right. The following weekend I replaced them with a set of Michelin's. Much better weather traction.

Your Mustang looks to only have cosmetic damage, so the repairs are no worries.

I hate seeing my car like this, as I'm sure several of you can sympathize with. I'm going to upgrade her based on the circumstances. What front bumper do you recommend? I'm going to do the CS rear bumper (the diffuser should look great with my exhaust), I will add a GT chin spoiler, and am deciding between MMD's ducktail and the Shelby rear spoiler (what do you guys prefer) and I will go ahead and paint some stripes on.
