4.0 Power Potential?

Hello all, im new to the v6 section. I currently have a heavily modded 98gt though ive been looking more into the s197 v6 for a new daily driver. Im curious as to what kinda power we can get out of the 4.0? and what are the best bolt ons besides rear gears and forced induction?

Not much man. Speaking from personal experience. If I could go back I'd rather have spent maybe 2-3 grand more on a GT.

The engine itself doesn't make power well. But it is tough. It has very good internals that can take abuse. Turbo it.

^That is indeed true and I almost mentioned that, but... By the time you add FI, all the supporting mods add up $$$-wise and you could of just bought a GT with that $.

Ya I know they're not the quickest things ever I just want a basic bolt on dd that I can add a little kick to.

How much horsepower can you gain from a cai, tb/plenum, tuner, pulleys, ect? And they're pretty reliable as well?

Damn, I was hoping for more potential from the 4.0. I heard that it responds to mods decently but maybe not..I might just pick one up and keep it stock for the dd

I mean I gained 40 rwhp and 20 rw tq with a Bama ethanol free 90 octane race tune, airaid cai, shorty headers and a x pipe and an accel coil pack so it responds decently well....probably would have been more with a 93 octane tune

If you haven't already got one, get a base model 3.7! Better gas mileage, more power, and responds to mods a lot better

Just might have to get a somewhat high mileage one but definitely worth it
