Can a modded 4.0 beat a `10 camaro v6?

Thoughts or mod suggestions welcomed. My current mods are cat back x pipe, cai, coil pack, 10 mm plug wires, ngk iridium plugs and 93 bama race tune.

Well let's see here (just pulling random 'facts' from the internet):

Mustang (0-60 mph 6.8, Quarter mile 15.1)
3,351 lbs
210 HP (178 rwhp + 30 (mods) = 208 rwhp)
240 TQ (204 rwtq + 30 (mods) = 234 rwtq)

Camaro (0-60 mph 6.0, Quarter mile 14.3)
3,780 lbs
304 HP (258 rwhp)
273 TQ (232 rwtq)

I was somewhat generous on giving you a 30+ gain in hp/tq (assuming you have a quality CAI and dual exhaust wrapped up with that Bama tune). The Camaro is 429 lbs heavier, although it looks like it might still have the edge. Only one way to find out.

It will likely be fairly close, assuming the Camaro is stock. I would still think the new Camaro would win. Auto or manual, that car is over a second faster in the 1/4 than a stock 4.0 V6.

Then again, I know nothing about the 4.0's with mods.

What other mods would be worth doing (besides current mods). Im thinking either suspension, tb, or weight reduction.

How's traction on your 4.0? When I had my 06 V6 auto I had a CAI/FRPP dual/Bama tune but don't remember how my launches went. If you've got wheel hop/spin a UCA/LCA's will help.

Maybe 3.73/4.10 gearing (don't know much on this topic yet)? Aluminum DS would help with acceleration too.

I need new LCA's for sure. Bushings are so dried they squeak. I just spray them with lithium grease every now and then.

Not sure if they're made for the 4.0.

Joe- First and Foremost-Take it to the track to find out! My second thought would be to take a look at some suspension mods to help get the power down more effectively as 2 Stangz had suggested. Control Arms will definitely make a difference here!

Last time I was at the track at Atlanta Dragway for their regular Friday night stuff I met a buddy of mine with a 45 anniversary edition v6 camaro vert manual and we were neck and neck all night! Multiple runs with each other, he won 3/5 and I won the other 2.

I was running 14.5-14.6 at 93mph and he was right with me.
I've got an 08 auto mods=
-Bama 93 race tune
-Airaid cai
-SR tb spacer
-Pypes shorty headers
-Pypes mid muffler catback
-Accel Super EDIS coil pack
-Taylor 8mm spark plug wires
-Autolite platinum plugs

Suspension and drivetrain were stock.
If I had an LSD then I wouldn't have lost one time, my biggest issue was getting out of the hole with just one wheel spinning, I pulled on him every time he beat me

I basically have the same thing, except no headers (I'd go with LT's). LCA's are definitely next on my list. And I'm assuming the camaro was stock?

Yeah I just prefer the sound of shorties over LTs on the 4.0 the more I look into it. And yeah definitely a LSD and LCAs would make a great combo! And yeah the camaro was stock

Is that to the wheels?? Looks like that'd be correct maybe for crank horsepower and torque

Even if it is crank hp, he'd be doing about 240 rwhp. A v6 camaro has about 250 rwhp. And if you factor in the extra 400lbs of the camaro, the stang would be faster, theoretically.

I mean I dynoed at 210rwhp and 243 rw tq and that's how close we were but then again he was a convertible so that's a little more weight and he wasn't the greatest at a manual but I'd say he was average

Id go with 4.10 gears to give you more acceleration
I've heard ups and downs about throttle bodies but what I mainly hear is that they aren't that great unless you have forced induction,

Also I guess weight loss would be alright but only with trimming off a little time,

If your drag racing I would say the suspension wouldn't help that much except for maybe control arms, and if you do go with control arms and 4.10's definately put a LSD in

No do not get a throttle body, heard nothing but horror stories and how much a pain in the neck it is to get them calibrated right and get the voltage correct. Not worth it at all. You'd be be better off getting a shop to port and polish the stock tb

Don't bother with adjustable LCAs, very much meant for a true track car and adjusting them can get complicated. The BBKs will be a good improvement over stock cause they're boxed steel and have polyurethane bushings
