Spring click

Hi I'm new too the mustang era.. I have 06 v6 automatic .....here's my problem I've been trying Too figure out for a few weeks now...I turn my steering wheel left or right going forward or backwards I would here this like knock/click noise comeing from the front end...got a lift under it an turn the wheel and the passenger side spring is moveing a good quarter inch if I turn left it will move left same goes when I turn it right. Took off the strut and spring the strut has got good pressure...but the (boot what they call it) that goes on top of the spring and under the mount can be turned eather way by hand...everything is greased up and tight so what is causing my spring too move when I turn....hope someone can help me with this thanks...!
