Curious about nitrous.

I am wanting to get quick power to my car. Nitrous has always seemed pretty shady to me. Is it safe for our 4.0s? I am only wanting to do a 75 shot. I am wanting to rebuild my rear end with 3.73s and auburn lsd, but people say the 7.5s cant handle the power. I honestly wont run the nitrous all but a couple times a month. Also what kit is best and what is all the safety things i need? I live in Texas and it gets freakin hot in the summer, Do I need a bottle heater? I really only want the window switch, but will that activate in first gear? I really only want it to activate in 2nd. other than a new clutch and flywheel, What do i need to do? Please keep away from the "Nitrous is cheating!" posts.

The 4.0 will handle a 75 shot fine. I had it on my 2006 and used it up until I pulled it off at 90,000 miles and added the Xcharger. The car had 203,000 miles on it when I sold it and ordered the 2013 in June 2012 (and was still running mid 12's). The new owner is still driving it and having no problems.

As far as the window switch, it depends. The Zex window switch can be programmed so that it activates and opens the window in second gear.

I had the heater on mine, but in Michigan we can get a cool night or weekend throughout the summer. And when I went over to Canada it got really cold with the wind coming off Lake Huron, so a heater was needed.

Don't bother building the 7.5. I broke mine with just the CAI, tune, and a set of drag radials. And that was with a set of supposedly indestructible Richmond gears. When I swapped the 8.8 to the car it ended up costing me LESS than what I paid to build the 7.5 with gears, tlok, and the LPW girdle.

If you can find one that is from a 2011+ then it is a direct swap (both V6 and V8 have the 8.8 starting in 2011 model year). If it is from a 2005-2010 GT then you have to swap the flange with the cobra flange (about $24 for the part) so that the driveshaft will mate up.

Try going to car-part.com and search your area. I used to have a source to pick up take off rear ends from but they have closed down. So I use car-part.com now
