2007 mustang v6 differential humming problem

I have owned my mustang for about a year now and about 2 months ago I started hearing a humming noise coming from the rear end around 50+ mph with pressure on the accelerator. And it disappeared when I let off and decelerate.

I took it to my local dealer and they suggested it was my axle bearings. But they were going to charge me 800+ for the work..so I had it done else where. The bearings were shot and I had them replaced. It stopped the grinding noise. But now I still have a humming noise. And it's noticeable. I'm stumped. And don't know what else it could be. Fluid is brand new. shaft is in great condition. Any help is appreciated.

Did they give you OEM 3.31 gears or upgrade you to 3.73

I was thinking of new gears. Since its a humming. It's a bad hum. I think it May be pinion?

Me too. It's been at it a while. But from what I've read. Bearings. Or pinion. So ima replace the ring and pinion. And go from there.

Automatic. Was more in my price range unfortunately when I bought it. And eventually probably sell it. But that's a bit away.

its 275 for ring a pinion kit off americanmuscle.com plus the the oil, plus you'd want to have a tuner for the new gears which ever ratio you pick.

Hahaha I feel you. Will it cause any issues if I don't get the tune immediately?

the speedometer will be off and miles you put on wont be correct, cause your car is written for 3.31 not the 3.73 tune corrects it

you put the key in hold reset button turn key to accessories while still holding reset should say engineering mode let off button, the the gauges should have a mild seizure after you can go to a digital mph also check various system checks.

I have not yet. We had our first snow so I hid her away for a few days. I think i may go with stock gears since a tune is a tad expensive. But I also need a fuel pump too! Lol
