Bama tunes

I have the three bama tunes 87 street, 87 performance, 93 race and my car is a daily driver. If you have bama tunes, what time do you run for your DD?

Hey Tex-That's a good question and I think it's really going to depend on what your commute time is like, type of roads, and what kind of traffic you're hitting daily. I like to run the Race Tune on my '08 as it's peppier! Depending on the traffic I hit daily I might switch to the Performance tune but 100% of the time I run the race tune. Let me know if you have any questions and I hope this helps!

I drive with a lead foot so I like driving with the race tune, usually when the roads get too slick I switch over to the street tune.

I run the 87 performance tune day to day and I'm just wondering if it's going to eat up my tranny in the long run

I run the 93 race tune daily driving and my tranny went boom about two months ago hahahaha not related though. The 5R55S is nearly guaranteed to fail

It had 85k miles when it went out. And nah extended warranty company gave me crap cause of my catless exhaust so they wouldn't give me a full amount for a new one. Luckily my dealer was pissed how the warranty company was treating me that he personally covered the rest of the cost to get a used 2010 5R55S with 20k miles on it. And my dealer dropped that company and no longer sells extended warranties from them to any of his customers anymore haha

Also the 2010 is not included in the Ford TSB so I assume they fixed the issue for the tranny for the 2010

Only if you are running an 87 tune...you can always run a higher octane than you're tuned for but never run a lower octane than you're tuned for

Like is it okay to switch over the race tune and put in 93 octane for a tank? I just wanna see what it's like lol. Should I get my tank as close as I can to empty before I fill up?

Yeah get as much of the 87 out as you can and then fill up with 93 and upload the tune! Biggest difference in the race tune is throttle response, shift firmness, and top end pull. The other tunes are kinda the same to me but the race tune feels much stronger

^^This! I can't stress this enough! I didn't get this car to drive it like my grandmother and this is why I love the race tune so much. It keeps a smile on my face all the time but when it's slick out just like you're saying I will switch back to the street tune as it's going to be a little more conservative and the throttle response will be not so aggressive. It's not a bad idea to switch over if the roads in your area are getting a little below temperature as well!

Thanks for your help sir! You're doing my job! OP just like 08 said you can always run a higher octane fuel with any of the tunes but if you're the race tune set for 93 you'll want to run only 93.

Perfect! This is exactly what I do if I know I'm going to be taking a longer trip or be in the car for a while. Run the tank down as low as you can then top her off with 93, load up your race tune and you're good to go! The main difference between the street and performance is where the powers coming on in the rpm band as well as the throttle response.

I live in Naples Florida... although I am freezing my A$$ off today... I ran 93 Hybrid (no longer out there) from day one until switched to 93 Race last time tunes updated. Come on... it's a Mustang I couldn't imagine NOT using all available power lol. Hell I still want more!! MORE power... MORE MORE MORE.. HAHAHAHA!!!

Sorry my inner child racer came out for a sec.

Mine has been 93 Hybrid, and I recently changed over to the 93 R tune. I am very pleased and the performance is at a level I'm very comfortable with as a daily driver.
