Standing Out

Hey guys I have a 2006 v6 mustang (black) and there's tons of mustangs around where I live and I really want to stand out! Do you have any suggestions as to what I could do to really make my car turn heads?

Add an uncommon, tastefully bright stripe. Mine now stands out everywhere I go.

You can find a variety of stripes on ebay. The install is fairly simple if you have the patience. I installed mine myself as a first timer. I took my time and I saved myself a boatload of $ on the install.

Black car in the pic.

Your car looks great! But I kind of want to stay away from stripes because that's also common around me XP that was the first thing I thought of, Im looking for more out of the box ideas!

Those are going to happen soon but those are common things people do. I'm looking an out of the box idea that will really cause people to look twice

Halos for the headlights? LEDs? Put a tiny light bar in the hood scoop

There are only so many mods you can do... The way people stand out is how they combine all of the options.

You could color match your rocker panels.

Doing something that is 'out of the box' is basically going to end up in you most likely looking like a ricer lol. I can't think of any mods that aren't 'common'. It's all in how people use those mods, play with the colors, play with the designs of their stripes, etc.

Try a few subtle things, things that car people notice. Smoked corner lights and turn signals are a cheap way to start, pick a secondary color and add hints of it all over your car. There are plenty of things out there that can make your car unique bro, what it comes down to is your own personal vision of what you think the car should look like.

I put an LED red strobe light from knight rider kitt in my hood scoop, and came up with an idea with my front grille of tracing the old mustang simple with red lighting to create the mustang symbol, can't wait to get the red oraclesClick image for larger version

I like the smoked out look, it's a little played out but I like it, also going to tint my front windshield. πŸ™ˆ

I can't really get dark tints, 35s are probably the darkest I could in my area the cops crack down the second they see tints U see lights flashing, I had 20s all around and had to take them off to get out of a ticket, but I'm ordering a chin spoiler and a rear decklid panel and hopefully going to get more appearance mods soon after! Then I'll move onto performance and since it's a 6 I've already given in to the fact that it will never be "fast" but any suggestions on power mods would be great too!

Do you want to stand out for looks or performance?

This was under the hood of my black 2006 convertible:

And for looks:

When I sold it in June 2012 it had a different hood:

Or you could put a new grille on with brighter bulbs and use this headlight delete kit to make a ram air kit and gives a 70s boss look to it too Click image for larger version

Black cars are so common in my area and everybody and their grandmother does stuff like tint, black wheels and blackout with plasti-dip. If you want styling mods that stand out then I would consider red or gold stripes along with some new rims. For something really cool you should look into installing some SHR louvers. I did this on my car and live in a large metropolitan area but have never seen them on another Mustang.
