7.5" or 8.8"

Budget question mainly....I've got some money coming and can't decide if I should just get a new LSD for my stock 7.5" rear end or get an 8.8" which will cost me a lot more. I'll never see any more power than full bolt ons which is putting me at about 220rwhp

After buying all the parts and the installation costs, you will likely find it is about the same to just do a swap. That is if you can find a locking diff for the 7.5; they are hard to find now.

When I had my 2006 the worst decision I made was to try to build up a 7.5. All it took was a CAI, tune, and set of drag radials to break the supposedly indestructible Richmond gears. In the end it was actually cheaper to buy the 8.8 and swap it compared to the cost of building up the 7.5.

Try car-part.com and put your area in for the location when you search.

just an FYI.. i was looking for a 8.8 rear end with a 3.73 gear from a junk yard to swap out my 7.5 and thought i found a great deal. After a day of emailing back and forth the guy asking questions about it ( he told me something went wrong with the motor in the car and the rearend was fine.. it was a 2010) finally he gave me the vin # of the donor car so i googled it and found out that the car had flood damage. not sure how much damaged was done to the rear end but that's not something i want to go with.. i was just looking for an easy swap. can't trust anyone these days.. so if anyone knows of a reputable to buy one please send the info to me.
