Sorry to say but coil packs, spark plugs and wires aren't going to give you any performance. Your talking FI vs NA. Gonna have to lean towards the Prix

I know, just thought I'd be as specific as possible.
Its my buddies gtp, he wants to run me in the spring. I plan on having ceramic long tubes and 4.10 gears installed by then.

Idk with the gears you will get the jump on him if you can get traction. Those 3.8 sc made 240 at the crank in a 3400 lbs car. You might surprise him, but he will probably catch and pass you by the end.

Hey Joe - That's honestly a tough one and the GP's are deceivingly fast...Do a quick YouTube search on "Mustang vs GTP" and you'll see what I mean...I had a friend in high school with one and I was regularly on the receiving end (Thumbs down!) To get in front of him I would look into a set of Ford Racing 4.10's and even potentially a One Piece Driveshaft. Both will help you get a better jump! I'd also say try to run it from a dig...At the track of course! Let me know if you have any other questions and I hope this helps!

^ hahaha. Honestly though even if his car is faster on paper there are a lot of factors, such as poor maintenance, worn out parrs, etc that could work in your favor. I have seen a lot of older cars that are faster on paper lose to "slower" cars.

My brother dumped a 3800 S/C out of a Grand Prix GTP into a Fiero. He took it to the track once and was running 13.50s.

I drove a Grand Prix gtp for a few days when my old fox body broke down. That car was quick. Seemed to be about as fast as my current 3.7 stang. I've never driven a 4.0 but I think with gears you should be able to take him in the 1/4 mile.

You would need gears, driveshaft, and better wheels/suspension to try and compete with FI cars. Thats only 1/4 mile, do not try to take them on any further then that. Especially when having larger gears you may lose top end.

Other things you could do is see what weight you could shed before the race. Such as taking out the spare tire prior and such.

Also, properly maintaining it will go a long ways as well.
