Update, I got my two twelves hooked up lat weekend. But that planet audio amp couldn't push them properly. so I got a new 2500 watt mono block Autotek amp running them now. So far it sounds pretty good

Yes , I have a question tho. I have 14 or maybe 16 gauge wire running from the inside of my box to the subs. The guy installing them ran 12 gauge from the amp to the box. Do I need to run 12 gauge instead of 16. Because my amp goes into protect mode if I turn it up to loud I didn't know if this is causing it or not

Have you upgraded your alternator? And do you have a capacitor (cap) between the battery and the amp?
Also, what are the indications on the amp when you go into protect mode? Some amps have different kinds of protection and may indicate which kind of protection is being used.

It looks like the alternator has been changed by the previous owner. I don't have a capacitor, I didn't know if I need one or not. And it doesn't specific why its going into protect. I turned my subs Down some and it hasn't done it since. What kind of cap do I need or do I really need one ?

Stereo install problems

Yes u need one if u continue to have problems, the tiniest drop in voltage from the alt can throw the amp into protect mode.
Most people need to upgrade their alt to one that produces higher amps.
I dont think you would need a specific cap, id probably go for something middle-ground, between super whamodyne and chincy cheap.
