Mufflers with less Drone?

I realize this is a very popular question, but I have done quite a bit of research and decided to take an individualized approach. I have a 2005 v6 mustang and am curious as to what you all felt was a good dual axle-back setup that has both less drone, as well as a nice, deep rumble.

My brother has Flowmasters 40's on his v6, and they sound incredible while driving around town at 30 mph. That being said, at 70+ mph the drone is nauseating. I currently have dual gt500 takeoffs. They have absolutely no drone, but are almost entirely silent. I'm hoping there exists a brand that offers mufflers with less drone without sacrificing sound.

So, in y'alls experience, what is a muffler pair that is worth looking into?

Thanks guys.

I currently have stock mufflers- they lack the drone, but the volume isn't there either. I think I can find a better medium.

Borla and Corsa are certainly the go to brands, but I was hoping for a choice between Flowmaster, Magna, MAC, etc. for a cheaper price tag. I realize drone will be there, but is there any well-known choice that doesn't have terrible drone but still sounds nice?

I have heard Maganflow Streets might fit this description.

Any opinions on Pypes? Specifically the violators?

I'm planning on getting the Violators when I switch to LTs and an o/r h, I don't think they'll drone too bad. They have a good looking design with a lot of packing in the muffler

I can't comment on That because I got headers and a catless midpipe at the same time. Overall volume increased but I would say the violators themselves are quieter

Not saying they won't drone, just not all straight throughs drone. And chambered Flowmasters drone some of the worst!

The Violators have a ton of drone. I currently have them on mine, and it's horrible at all speeds. They actually make my friends Mustang with Magnaflow comps sound like a Mercedes Benz inside.

Regarding the drone/no drone debate- I feel like whether they're installed on a GT vs v6 will have a substantial effect on the amount of drone there is.

Does anyone have any opinion on the Ford Racing mufflers? Are they practically stock or? What about Flowmaster Force II's?

It might be the way mine are mounted. The guy who did it, did a terrible job of putting them on. That could also affect it.

And you also have a GT which probably helps.

Yeah I didn't think much about different engines affecting drone.. Kind of silly of me to be honest lol

How about putting sound deadening in your car and running whatever exhaust system you want...

True!

I've thought about it. Some sound deadener in the trunk under the main trunk liner would quite it up some.

I also thought about getting a trunk mat (not really to quiet it down, but I keep spilling my recycling all over the trunk.) and putting sound dampener between the quarter panel and trunk liner.

I'd also like some up near the front under the shifter and in the door around the speakers. I digress.

Sound-wise, or just to keep it clean?

I had Force II's put on my 2010 V6 this Friday. I don't have any clips of them, but I commented here how they sound like. No drone on mine

Sounds likey they're worth looking into as well, Tuzban.

I've been looking into the Pypes Muffler-Delete. I'm surprised as to how quiet it actually is for a straight-pipe setup. Does anyone have any opinion of those?
