Automatic transmission changing to Manual.

Hello! Mustang fanatics!

So I recently got a mustang 2010 v6 4.0 which I love but only down fall is that I got an Automatic. I wish I could have gotten the Manual version but unfortunately they did not have that model and I really needed a car and I got a great deal on it so any how after a few months of driving it I have decided to get the conversion but I cant seem to find the right site for the parts and just really want some directions on here.

1. If someone could point me to the right parts I would be for ever greatful! also I may supercharge my car so I need a manual that is strong and can withhold a lot of pressure or torque i guess?

2. What is the best oil for this engine I specifically want your guys opinions before I do my first oil change in the next couple days. I do get a free oil change at the dealer ship but I personally think it would be a massive WASTE because I know they put bare minimum **** quality into your engine.

3. I need some schooling on these cars cause I recently came from a completely different model and car name so I know nothing about Mustangs

Travis.

Congratulations, on your car. But the best thing to do in your situation is sell it and get a manual trans car, doing the conversion will be a very big headache. Another thing get away for the dealership and don't look back...

Dealerships charge too much for everything. Recon works in a successful automotive shop so maybe listen to him.

Automatic transmission changing to Manual.

I'm not being negative at all. I'm being honest, if I offended you I apologize, it wasn't my intentions. But if I was in your shoes, I think I'd try and find a manual. Unfortunately with a manual you have more things that need upgrades, that with an auto...

He did give you the advice you were looking for. The best way to get the manual you want is to sell your current car and buy one with a manual transmission. As for the dealership, he also made a valid point. 99% of dealerships are there to make money, not help you. It's a sad but true fact. As for what oil to use, what you use is largely dependent on what you're going to be using the car for. Daily driver, weekend toy, track car?

Not so much offended I came here to ask what would be the best transmission to buy? Now I got the car for a cheap price so getting the transmission conversion would actually save me money still instead of finding one that is a manual. I just wanted a link and some advice on my car not advice to get rid of it. Im willing to spend the money.

Automatic transmission changing to Manual.

Alright, if that's what you want, here's a brief list of what you'll need...
The manual trans mission
You will most likely need another driveshaft
A manual trans floor pan section, you will need to cut the auto floor pan out of the car and weld the manual pan in
A clutch kit including throw out bearing and other components
Your computer will most likely need to be re-flash for a manual trans car or even buy a new computer
You'll need a new pedal kit with clutch, you will most likely need to cut the firewall to install the pedals
To do all this on a professional level it will most likely cost around 9-10 thousand dollars, that's an estimate...

MobilOne 5w20 or 5w30 should be more than suitable

Automatic transmission changing to Manual.

Or if you are willing install a better torque converter on your auto replace the two piece driveshaft with a one piece and put some gears in the rear. Install a shift kit and then supercharge your engine.
As an Automotive Technician, I recommend you keep it an auto or buy a manual car. If you convert your car to a manual, and come time to sell it you will take a big loss on it...

I wouldnt mind keeping it auto I just assumed that the torque and horsepower I wanted would damage the auto tran.

Automatic transmission changing to Manual.

Autos will handle the power better than a manual will. That's one reason why people use autos in drag racing, torque converters will get more of your engines power to the ground than what a manual will...
If you are concerned with your trans then consider upgrading to a better auto trans...

Recon, have you done this before? I can't imagine the floor has to be cut. Ford made these cars with manuals, so in the interest of keeping costs down they make the trans tunnels the same. This swap shouldn't be hard if you use the stock trans. Really just need a wrecked one, swap what you need and then add anything aftermarket you feel you would need like a better clutch ect.

After searching I found that these models are also already cut for manual if you wanted to make the conversion. So technically there is no need to cut anything really.

Automatic transmission changing to Manual.

You are correct I was mixing it up with another vehicle we did the swap on, after reading over an article I found it has a very good info on performing the swap. Now this might not be everything you need or be more than you need, it's on an older mustang. Just a general idea of what to put on the list...

Yeah ttmustang10. He has had a lot of issues and is letting go of the car I believe. Not sure if they were tranny or engine issues or both though

No, I'm trying to keep you away for people who just want your money and not to help you. But you have no need to apologize I did come on a little negative/harsh/brutally honest. Unfortunately as stated 99% of dealerships are there for your $$$ and not to really help you. A good friend of mine has a 14 F250 deisel, and it has an oil leak. It took our local dealership nearly 3 months to get it fixed, when it should've taken three days. If you are interested in seeing some of the cars I work on I have a thread located in general car discussion...

Our numbers are about 330 safe, I broke my converter and screwed the input shaft and 2nd and 3rd gear. I made 383hp and 372tq on 10 pounds.

2010 auto v6 is what I have. Had a twin turbo kit. But selling it to just go back to stock.

Well almost stock, putting in long tubes, ported heads and cam grind. With cai and under drive pulley. I have 8.8 rear with 3.73 and one piece drive shaft. I'm getting the car back with in the next 2 months.

As for numbers of hp idk what ill make, I'll keep you posted. But our trans you can super charge and be safe at 300hp or turbo it just keep at 300. They don't make upgrades for our trans. As far as gears and input shaft wise.

If you get a tune you'll love the auto trans and one pice drive shaft.
