Question Decisions, decisions! Shift kit or tune...

Here is my quandry:
Would I be better off to

a_ have a shift improvement kit and trans cooler added to my 5R55s (and in the process change the fluid/filter which is at 45K), firming up the shifts and giving me better performance and reliability, or

b_ purchase a BAMA tune, firming up the shifts and giving me better performance/reliability and just change the trans fluid/filter

From what I have read, the tune is most effective in a V6 with an auto trans, due to its adjustments there, and not much gain elsewhere without other mods. I've also read that the shift improver makes a marked difference in the 'butt dyno' (which as a DD is all that matters to me)

Both will likely set me back about the same amount. Oh, and what happens if I end up doing both? Will Bama take into account the shift kit when I order it and adjust my tune to correspond? Will I still see any additional improvements?

Thank you!

Tune should be first mod.

Pick your poison.

Tuner for sure. That'll also benefit you with any other performance mods you may do in the future.

OK, then; that's the plan.

I'm still going to have the transmission fluid changed Friday (and replaced with synthetic) as the current fluid is marginal. I do not agree with it being a 'sealed unit' and at 45K I feel more comfortable swapping it out.

Off to go shopping for a tune!
