Next upgrade?

I'm not sure what my next upgrade on my 2008 v6 should be. I have a BBK CAI, 70mm throttle body, pipes true dual system with M80s and 93 octane racing tune. I was thinking either a suspension kit or differential with 4.10 gears. Any suggestions?

Its an automatic, i had to look it up it has 3.31 gears. Any reason not to go with the 4.10 gears? I hear their pretty awesome.

With your auto transmission i would get the tci ratchet shifter. Installed one on my old 2009 mustang and its the most fun you can have in an auto. Looks good in my opinion and was an easy install for a lot of fun. Probably my favorite mod that I did to the car besides ditching the hideous stock wheels.

Kinda expensive for a shifter, about 500 bucks. I kinda played around with shifting 1st -3rd gears. Looks cool though.

I put mine in when the stock shifters indicator light broke. Totally worth it in the end but not for everyone i guess. Its better being able to use the first three gears since you just bump it up instead of pressing the button in before switching gears like on the stock. Its kind of like having a four speed since you can bump from 1-3 and then straight into drive right after. But between your two suggestions its a tough call. Suspension is where the 4.0 would be best off since its not too fast in a straight line and its nice to be able to corner fast but then again having a posi rear end is also a plus so you can have the power at both wheels. Id pick differential and gears if it were up to me. Best of luck with the modding!

Hey, thanks. Yeah that's probably the route I'm gonna take with the gears then suspension later on. I'll probably call Ford later this week to see how much it would cost to install posi with gears and shop around.

Well, looks like I'm doing suspension I got a really good deal on the Eibach sport kit with shocks and springs. I will install at the end of the month when I have time. I'll be sure to post some pics.

Can't go wrong doing suspension and more than likely not long down the road you'll be able to gear her!

2 inches in the rear 1.6 in the front. I really didn't measure before I suspect its a bit more. There's only like 6 inches clearance between the front part of the k member and the ground. I've found that I'm gonna need a new floor jack.lol I didn't need any camber plates or anything. They got it within a couple degrees of spec with a little negative camber. Corners like a beast!!!!

4.10's are awesome, but they have a Down side also. The 373's may be a nicer choice. 4.10's are Way Faster, Blinding Faster, but the two downsides are kinda big, You will get to point b (a to b) quicker than anybody but you'll loose your Top End Speeds, they wont get up to those speeds again. And the Higher Revs will lessen your gas miles. If your stock car gets to 130mph, after gears you won't get anywhere near there again.

You should feel an instant difference. Remember a lot of Performance cars come from Dealership with 373's.

I know only what reviews I've read on american muscle. Most like the 3.73s; there were a few comment of remorse of not going with 4.10s. I might just stop and work on the cosmetic issues my rides has. I have clear coat peeling in areas.

Originally I was thinking about this kit but you guys got me rethinking the 4.11 gears. That's not a bad price for everything.

I have the 4.10 gears and I love them. I don't do a lot of high way driving and that's where people complain. On the highway my rpms stay around 2400 and some people don't like it. I personally do and when I drive highway I get around 26mpg. 4.10s are extremely fun and you'll beat anyone off the line. Idk what my top speed is because I still have the 2 piece driveshaft but I've gone 135. No problem. I spin switching into second gear with brand new nitto g2s. It's a lot of fun but 3.73 would be a great medium

I drive 35 miles to work not sure what my top speed is. I have customer firmware on my phone and it doesn't like my wireless Bama tuner so I can't run the tests it has on it. I just need to find a shop or call ford to do this for me.

Just got quoted 800 bucks for a gear swap at ford. That's just labor oil and seals, not parts. I guess I'll be shopping around.

Dang that's terrible. Yeah I would definitely shop around or find a mustang dude near you that knows what he's doing. The only good thing about the dealership, is they have to fix whatever they break in the process

You have to be careful with that suspension! The two biggest waste of money (in my opinion ) that I did to my 4.0 was the suspension and 70mm throttle body. Your aftermarket exhausted pipe with probably hit the ground when drive up slanted drive ins. Also towing becomes an issue. In order to get it on the flat bed you have to put bricks under the rear wheels. Same if you want to get it up on a ramp like a normal auto shop.

I haven't had that problem but I've been pretty careful. I got a good deal on the eibach sport line kit not just springs it was 450 and I did the install myself. It handles like a dream and no body roll. Ive only scraped once it was just the rocker panel as far as i can tell. The throttle body was probably a waste but I paid like 90 bucks for it. I got lucky and found it in a close out on eBay it was SR performance though it was missing 2 bolt on screws.

I found a shop in the area that would do it for 450 if I brought them the differential and the gears. Its still helps expensive with the parts but I think I'm gonna do it considering ford wanted 800 just to install. This will probably be my last upgrade other than cosmetics.

Heavy-duty radiator and fan to prevent overheating. Trust me, it sounds foolish now, but you'll wish you'd done it years ago.

Well, finally got my gears done it cost me 575 to get it done. I like the gears they're fast and the extra traction too is nice. I'll have to wait till next week for a tune to recalibrate the speedo. I was pretty sure itsx would let u change the ratio but can't find it anymore. Also ,I developed an issue I must a scraped somewhere and knocked the drive shaft outta alignment. It vibrates at high speeds I think around 85.
