How to make v6 louder than straightpipe

Hey, I have a 2007 V6, with the dual exhaust. I removed the mufflers and replaced with pipe and it is very loud, but I was wondering if there are more things that I could do to make it even louder that are cheap.

Also I would want it to still be able to pass smog in California

How to make v6 louder than straightpipe

Shorten the exhaust or find a longtube headers/midpipe that's emissions legal in California. If there is such a thing.

Are you serious?
What if you just removed the exhaust manifold completely?
Run no header at all. Nothing. Straight out the heads!
That would be deafening at high rpm.
You might need some heat shielding under the hood in some places.
You might need a tune.

It's plenty loud now. You can't tell cause you're in it. Have someone do a full throttle drive by while you stand outside and listen to it. You are basically a California legal straight pipe now. To go louder, you'd need to remove the cats, then you would not be legal anymore. Heck, you might not be legal now depending on the exhaust inspection laws. In my state, there has to be a muffler of some sort installed to pass inspection.

Guarantee your car sounds like a bag of dick tips right now and all you are going to do is make it worse and then attract a cop's attention and get cited for messing with the emissions in Cali.

Unless you don't mind swapping the catted mid-pipe for a catless off-road mid-pipe, and then swapping them back again every two years for emissions testing, your only other option is to shorten the exhaust pipes like Recon suggested.
It used to be very popular to dump the exhaust underneath the car, immediately after the axle. It gives the exhaust an echoing effect as it bounces off the road and the underside of the car. It especially makes it sound a hell of a lot louder inside of the vehicle!

If you've removed your mufflers, you won't pass the inspection in CA.
I suppose you could gut the mufflers and hope you fool the inspector.
Anything over 95 db won't pass inspection in CA. anyway.
However I'm sure you can shop around and find a station that will pass anything.

We don't have a vehicle safety test in California. The emissions testing stations are only required to test the emissions compliance of the vehicle. They don't check the lights, tires, brakes, or any of the other safety related items on the vehicle.
I have passed smog tests with holes in both the muffler and tailpipe. There was probably as much exhaust leaking from the system as there was coming out of the tailpipe for the sniffer to read!
People (Typically from out of state) make out CA smog laws as being impossibly strict, and they are to a certain extent. Especially to someone who can remember when there was no such thing! But like anything else, the determined will always find ways to circumvent the silly smog laws that our government has unfairly imposed on the automobile enthusiasts.

No safety inspection in California. Under most circumstances anyway... If you purchase a rebuilt vehicle with a salvage title, a brake and headlamp inspection is required, I believe.

Agree unless it's a drag car anything less than straight pipes it's not such a good idea. Don't want that fart can sound or extreme drone on the freeway.

Fun fact, straight through mufflers make more power than straight pipe, the only reason to go straight pipe is to be obnoxious. Either that or cheap haha.
