New to ME site

A little about my stang... I have 1969 ford mustang coupe with a 331 stroker with 4:11 gear and x-pipe with spintechs exh.(project car). I will post pictures later. I'm looking into getting a new mustang v6 with performance package and wanted to know if anyone has it and could tell me what do they think about it.

Thank you

i dont own one but i work on them. so far they have been solid cars. and the repairs have been easy. they have plenty of power for a daily driver and get great fuel mileage. the only real downside is the sound. doesn't have the awesome v8 sound. but they did give them the duel exhausts so it still looks good.

Worked on a few as well ... Exactly the one in the commercial that was playing a lot ! ... Great great vehicles and amazing gas mileage ! Only thing is like Texas said ... That bad *** v8 sound . But while those guys are getting fuel you can keep on down the road lol !

Yes you can't beat the sound of a v8... Well is the performance package worth getting?

Re: New to ME site

Welcome aboard! You could always slap a blower on the new v6 and get some impressive #s along with good gas mileage but like said it just won't have that v8 rumble.

I would just suggest not driving the GT then. I drove it first, and the v6 is definitely a step down, but as gas continues to go up, you'll be happy you got the v6.

Re: New to ME site

welcome! can't wait to see pics of the 69. and good luck with finding your new stang. The new V6 is amazing they have improved so much. this is the ONLY time i would say that getting a V6 would be a decent idea. gas mileage and capability of modding- they are just great. and have enough power to keep you entertained.

I have the 2011 v6 performance package. LOVE this car. Plenty of power, handles like a dream with GT suspension, has a GREAT sound with GT exhaust. And the look is just incredible! 6 speed is a must for this car!!

I'll say this. The 351V8 95 Cobra R was rated at 300hp and 227V6 12 Mustang is rated at 305hp.

I recently ordered a new 2012 v6 with the Performance package. I should receive it in the next two weeks. Is that gear shift knob what came with the car or was it a replacement. Also, on the performance package are the GT exhaust part of the package?

Thanks

Shift knob is custom from Grabberpony.com

Here is a list of what comes with the performance package. Exhaust isn't listed, but after comparisons on the lot when I picked it up, it is the GT exhaust.

A 3.31 rear axle ratio for quicker off-the-line acceleration
Mustang GT coupe front and rear stabilizer bars
Mustang GT front struts and rear shocks/springs
Shelby GT500 rear lower control arm
Unique 19-inch wheels
Pirelli performance tires for improved grip
Mustang GT front and rear brake calipers with Performance Friction pads
A strut tower brace for increased body rigidity
Unique electronic stability control calibration with Sport mode for performance driving

Re: New to ME site

Thanks for the response. Does the sound of the GT exhaust system that came with your car provide the sound you are looking for or will you be looking to change to another system?

Very sharp!

I was asking Hal3st0rm about the exhaust sound on his Red V6.

Any comments on how yours sounds?

Re: New to ME site

I have a red candy 2011 and it has 18,000 trouble free miles on it...It will scoot when you need to. I get 30 mpg with mostly highway driving. I sometimes miss the v8 sound but the sync + blue tooth are great so I listen to tunes instead. this car is so much better than the 2006 stang I traded. Wow! what Ford has done is suprising and welcome.

I got mine without sirius from the factory, and bought the kit online to put it in myself. I already had a subscription for the vehicle I traded in for the mustang, so just transferred it over to the new sirius tuner when I got in installed. It actually saved me some money to buy the equipment online and put it in myself.

Sweet ride you got there! I was going back and forth between black and red, but went with the red. Both look amazing with those wheels.

For now the sound is adequate. It's a little more subtle than the GT, but it's a nice growl when you get on it. Have plans to upgrade to a Roush axle back eventually.
